Supporting Service Children to 'Achieve Your Potential'
Supporting Service children and addressing missed SEND opportunities.
On Friday 6th March, Deborah was invited to support SPARK Lancaster, an initiative set up by Tech Lancaster's MD Rich Grant last year. What a wonderful day meeting primary and secondary students who were clearly loving spending time out of the classroom and being immersed in hands on learning.
At Careers Ideas Ltd, we believe that STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) is one of the most powerful ways to equip young people with the skills they need for the future workforce.
From problem solving and creativity to digital literacy and critical thinking, STEAM learning helps students develop the capabilities that modern industries demand. Yet for many young people, STEAM can feel intimidating or inaccessible without the right guidance and inspiration.
That’s where careers education can make a real difference. By connecting classroom learning with real world career pathways, we can help students see how STEAM subjects open doors to exciting opportunities, from engineering and healthcare to environmental science, AI, and space exploration.
When students understand why STEAM matters and where it can take them, they’re far more likely to stay engaged and confident in these subjects.
Many thanks Rich and Nicola Mortimer for inviting us to support SPARK Lancaster. Judging by the packed room and enthusiasm for tech, we've no doubt it will become one of the main events for schools to attend!

Supporting Service children and addressing missed SEND opportunities.

For some time, I've been pondering on setting up a podcast, to support service personnel transition successfully to civvy street. As Bronze holders of the Employer Recognition Scheme, I wanted Careers Ideas Ltd to do something more than what we do already to support transitioning service members and their families. After watching the final film in the Mission Impossible film series, the idea was born:-

Delivering a Masterclass on Skills needed in our Lancashire workforce to QES Year 10 students.
