Mind the Gap: A Reflection on Skills Needs in the UK
Building Workforce Capability
Careers Ideas Ltd are delighted to partner with University of Lancashire to deliver a workshop aimed at addressing the unique needs of service students as part of Achieve Your Potential project, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
Our project explores the challenges Service children face across education, health, and transitions. Through anonymised case studies, including examples from the 16–18 age group where hidden needs were missed and learners mislabelled as lazy, we highlight the risks of missed SEND opportunities and the importance of inclusive practice. Our workshop also examines military culture and the need for family recognition.
Attending delegates will consider the vital enrolment question identifying Armed Forces families and explore ways to strengthen communities of practice so Service children and their families are fully supported to thrive.

Building Workforce Capability

For some time, I've been pondering on setting up a podcast, to support service personnel transition successfully to civvy street. As Bronze holders of the Employer Recognition Scheme, I wanted Careers Ideas Ltd to do something more than what we do already to support transitioning service members and their families. After watching the final film in the Mission Impossible film series, the idea was born:-

Delivering a Masterclass on Skills needed in our Lancashire workforce to QES Year 10 students.
