What an incredible day I spent aboard HMS Belfast in early March with a bunch of extremely talented Armed Forces Female Veterans! 🤩

The day was brought together by Irwin Mitchell law firm as part of their Female Military Voice initiative.

I had the pleasure of meeting wonderful inspiring women like Jilly Carrol from Beyond the Wire who talked so passionately about the need to have more research into the bereaved Armed Forces Community.

I really enjoyed listening to so many voices including Liza Jarvis and Annette Berry from Forces Employment Charity, (I so wish I had known about this charity when I left service).

Danielle Sandy, ex Naval veteran, talked about her role as Global Head of Military Talent at Barclays, there is an amazing array of career opportunities to service leavers in the finance sector.

Kerryanne Wilde talked about her role from the military into civvy street.  She has been a huge support to me whilst we work from Bronze to Silver as part of the Employer Recognition Scheme, of which she is Cumbria and Lancashire Regional Director.

And of course I caught up with Rebecca Steel, from College for Military Veterans and Emergency Services whom I’m enjoying working with as part of Achieve Your Potential, a unique project Becky devised, bringing together a range of stakeholders including The Lancashire Colleges to explore the impact on service children’s education when parents frequently deploy.

As Bronze holders of the Employer Recognition Scheme, I wanted Careers Ideas Ltd to do something more than what we do already to support transitioning service members and their families. After watching the final film in the Mission Impossible film series, the idea was born:-
