Careers Ideas Ltd are delighted to announce they have been invited to collaborate in a unique pilot project with the Lancashire Colleges to support Service children in Lancashire.
The ‘Achieve Your Potential’ project is unique to Lancashire and is funded by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Service Pupil Support Programme, part of the Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Families Fund.
This collaborative project between Careers Ideas Ltd, The College for Military Veterans and Emergency Services, (UCLAN) and four Lancashire Colleges, Blackpool & Fylde, Burnley, Nelson & Colne and West Lancashire College are all signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Covenant focuses on helping members of the Armed Forces community have the same access to Government and commercial services and products as any other citizen. It is hoped the project will contribute to a wider evidence base around the needs of Service children and inform future policy and practice across Lancashire’s colleges and the sector as a whole.
The project aims to raise awareness of the impact that being part of a military family can have on a 16–18-year olds life and educational experiences, including the challenges they have faced when they have a parent/carer that is serving in the UK Armed Forces.
As a Veteran of the Armed Forces and a Bronze holder of the Armed Forces Covenant Scheme Careers Ideas Ltd are delighted to partner on such an important project and lead the design of the Student Support package. We are committed to supporting not only military personnel leaving active service with Career planning, but also the families of serving personnel. This project exemplifies our commitment to the Armed Forces family and embodies our passion for ensuring all children, irrespective of their backgrounds or abilities, ‘meet their potential.’

For some time, I've been pondering on setting up a podcast, to support service personnel transition successfully to civvy street. As Bronze holders of the Employer Recognition Scheme, I wanted Careers Ideas Ltd to do something more than what we do already to support transitioning service members and their families.
