June and July are always busy months, where I spend as much time as I can delivering a range of skills workshops to both secondary school students and Kings Trust students in preparation for their journey into the world of work.
Having an extensive employer network ensures we can connect the right students to the right opportunities.
According to new research from the Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) and Skills England, employers are clear: essential skills like teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are just as important, if not more, than qualifications. 60% of employers say skills like resilience and creativity are vital for young people entering the workforce. These “power skills” are in high demand across all sectors and are key to levelling up opportunities for young people across England.
Investing in career education and skills building in schools is critical for a thriving, future-ready workforce. Career Leaders need to LEAVE the classroom and work in partnership with employer networks such as local Chambers of Commerce to better understand the work opportunities on their doorstep.
